Prosecution initiated against those who abused a 4-year-old girl, leading to her death

According to the investigation, Nguyen Minh Hiep (born in 2004; residing in Thanh Lam commune, Ninh Binh province) and Ban Thi Tam (born in 2006; residing in Bac Quang commune, Tuyen Quang province) lived together as husband and wife and rented a room at alley 31 Nguyen Kha Trac, Phu Dien ward, Hanoi from March 2026 to the present. Living with them were H (born in 2022; Tam's child from a previous relationship) and Hiep's older brother and his girlfriend.

On the afternoon of May 3rd, Hiep and Tam physically abused and assaulted H., leaving her in critical condition. Despite being rushed to E Hospital, H. unfortunately passed away.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Director of the Hanoi City Police Department instructed the Criminal Police Department to coordinate with relevant units to urgently investigate and clarify the actions of the suspects. During the investigation, Hiep and Tam also confessed to regularly abusing and beating child H., even starving her for days at a time.

Based on the investigation documents, the Hanoi City Police Investigation Agency has issued a decision to initiate a criminal case and prosecute Nguyen Minh Hiep for murder, while consolidating the case file to handle Ban Thi Tam according to regulations./.
