Caring for the poor and vulnerable in border areas during Tet

To support and share with people with disabilities, the poor, and children in remote and border areas, the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities, the Poor, and Child Rights of Tay Ninh Province organized the Tet Gift Giving Program for 2025, under the motto "No one left behind during Tet".

According to Venerable Thich Niem Thoi, Head of the Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam in Tay Ninh Province, every Tet, the Sangha contributes and mobilizes benefactors to deliver small gifts to poor households and families in especially difficult circumstances in remote and border areas. The aim is to ensure that everyone can celebrate Tet and to inspire hope and resilience in the poor. This year, the Sangha and the management of Tay Ninh’s Ba Mountain Pagoda system prepared 1,200 Tet gifts for the poor, orphans, and lonely elderly people, with a total cost of nearly VND1 billion.

Mr. Nguyen Chi Binh, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thạnh Bình Commune, Tan Bien District, noted that the local economy faces many challenges, so the people greatly need the support and companionship of organizations, businesses, and benefactors. “The meaningful gifts during the New Year not only reflect the care of the Party, the State, and the collective support of society but also symbolize solidarity and compassion during Tet. They are a great source of encouragement for residents and ethnic minorities in border areas, significantly contributing to local social welfare and economic efforts,” he said.

Mr. Nguyen Van Qua, Chairman of the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities, the Poor, and Child Rights of Tay Ninh Province, stated that this year the Association would distribute 3,560 Tet gift packages to policy beneficiaries, people with disabilities, the elderly living alone, and children in difficult circumstances. The gifts include cash, rice, cooking oil, instant noodles, sweets, and clothing, with a total cost of nearly VND2 billion.

With the mission of "No one left behind during Tet", the Association calls for attention and support from units, organizations, individuals, and benefactors both domestically and internationally to continue accompanying them in supporting people with disabilities and children in difficult circumstances in the province. This effort aims to contribute to implementing social welfare policies at the local level.

In 2024, the Association mobilized and effectively distributed resources to organize support activities, improving the quality of life for policy beneficiaries. Over VND26 billion in gifts and in-kind support was provided to those in need.

The Association’s activities have united charitable organizations, individuals, and benefactors to provide material and spiritual support for people with disabilities, the poor, and children in difficult circumstances. These efforts have empowered them to overcome challenges and strive for a better future.

The Tet Gift Giving Program for 2025 organized by the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities, the Poor, and Child Rights of Tay Ninh Province has brought warmth and fullness to residents and communities along the southwestern border as they celebrate the Lunar New Year./.
