Psychologists point out that children education is an important part in forming the personality as well as the development of children. However, when controlling children too much, parents can cause unwanted harm to children.
Accordingly, psychologists also point out basic mistakes to avoid so that parents can avoid over-controlling their children.
When children are controlled too much by their parents, they easily lose their confidence in life. In particular, children do not have the determination and don’t dare to challenge themselves before opportunities in life.
In addition, controlling children will make them dependent, gradually losing the ability to make decisions, solve problems or take responsibility for their own actions. This often happens because parents always intervene and solve problems for their children.
Experts also say that over-controlling children will make them afraid of everything, limiting their ability to learn soft skills.
Besides, over-controlling children can create conflicts in the family. Children may feel constrained to things they don’t like or don’t really want. At some point, they may express resistance or go against their parents’ instructions.
When children feel distrusted, tension in family relationships will increase. This is also the reason why children become distant, and don’t want to express their own opinions or share with their parents.
Parents’ over-controlling their children can reduce their children's ability to socialize. They will lack basic communication skills, become shy and don’t want to build friendships and social interactions naturally.
Gradually, children become withdrawn and limit their conversations with others. Relationships will gradually decrease and become an obstacle for children when they go into society.
To solve the above problems, psychological experts advise that parents need to have a way of teaching suitable with each child's personality, not too imposing, but maintaining exchanges and listening to children to set up general rules and have flexible adjustments.
Parents should discuss and agree with their children on rules and limits in each task to ensure fairness so that children can comfortably perform without feeling pressured or forced to do things they don’t want to do.
In addition, parents should not forget to encourage their children to develop life skills and take responsibility for their actions. Parents should be ready to support and create favorable conditions for their children to study and participate in many social activities so that they can be active and confident in communication./.
