On April 1, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Education and Training launched the first contest "Initiatives to ensure school order on preventing school violence and child labor".

Students truly become the center

According to the Director of the Department of Political Education and Student Affairs under the Ministry of Education and Training Tran Van Dat, implementing the Party's guidelines and the State's legal policies on education, in recent times, the dissemination, education, raising awareness and sense of law compliance for students has always been focused on and directed by the education sector and implemented in schools.

Through integrating formal teaching in subjects, creative experiential activities, extracurricular activities and many other suitable forms, dissemination and education on security, order, school safety, crime prevention, social evils, law violations in the education sector in general, and the work of preventing school violence and child labor in particular are being promoted with positive results.

The prevention of school violence and child labor is also one of the contents that the Education sector has directed and implemented vigorously in recent years in the spirit of Resolution 29-NQ/TW of the 11th Party Central Committee and the Government's Action Program to implement Resolution 29 on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training.

"School is not only a place to learn knowledge, but also a place to form personality, educate the spirit and morality of the young generation. This is an environment for each student to develop comprehensively in both physical and mental aspects. Therefore, school safety does not stop at ensuring facilities, but is also related to an educational environment without violence, without pressure and with mutual respect," said Mr. Dat.

With the desire that at school, students truly become the center, not only in the subjects in class but also in thinking and practical initiatives, the Contest "Initiatives to ensure school order on preventing school violence and child labor" is one of many solutions and forms that have been actively and effectively implemented throughout the education sector.

Through this contest, students can demonstrate their talents, creativity and awareness in building a good learning environment. It is also an opportunity for them to express their thoughts and opinions in paintings and creative writings. From there, we can better understand their wishes and concerns when going to school.

Contest rules

Taking place from March 1 to June 30, 2024, participating students will go through four rounds of competition including school level, district level, provincial level and national level with the same two topics: preventing school violence and preventing child labor.

For primary school students, the competition will be on A3 paper with no color or material restrictions.

Middle school and high school students will compete in individual writings with the condition that the writings have not been entered into other competitions, have not been published in newspapers, electronic news sites or social networks.

The writings for the contest must be completely handwritten and have a maximum length of no more than 1,200 words. Each student is allowed to participate in a maximum of 1 entry.

For each round, the Organizing Committee will award one First Prize, two Second Prizes, and two Third Prizes at each level. The closing and awarding ceremony is expected to take place in June 2024./.
