Some other diseases such as viral encephalitis, meningococcal meningitis and malaria have fluctuated significantly compared to the same period in 2024. Viral encephalitis recorded 34 cases in the month, with a cumulative total of 340 cases from the end of 2024 to date, down more than 36% compared to the previous year.

Meningococcal disease increased again with 11 cases in the month and 95 cases in the past 11 months, much higher than the same period in 2024.

From December 14, 2024 to now, the whole country has had more than 15,100 cases, of which Ho Chi Minh City has recorded 3 deaths of elderly people with underlying diseases. The Ministry of Health still requires localities to closely monitor the variant and the entry situation at border gates to limit the risk of infiltration and rapid spread in the community.

In response to the development of infectious diseases, the Ministry of Health said that in December it will focus on tasks of strengthening disease surveillance, especially outbreaks that are at risk of spreading.

The Ministry continues to coordinate with local health systems to implement a campaign to supplement vitamin A and deworming medicine for children nationwide to improve the resistance of young children, who are vulnerable to seasonal diseases.

Along with that, the Ministry continues to complete  document to submit to the National Assembly the draft Law on Disease Prevention - an important legal document guiding epidemic prevention activities in the coming years.

The epidemic situation is forecasted to still have many potential risks, especially in provinces with strong weather fluctuations and densely populated areas. In particular, the transition from autumn to winter, along with travel activities and crowded  events at the end of the year, increases the risk of spreading infectious diseases and respiratory diseases.

The Ministry of Health recommends that localities continue to maintain  environmental sanitation , destroy mosquito larvae, proactively communicate disease prevention and create conditions for people to access medical services early when there are unusual signs./.
