The first liver transplant was successfully performed at Military Hospital 175 after careful preparation

A representative of Military Hospital 175 under the Ministry of National Defense said that the hospital had just successfully performed the first liver transplant on a human.

After 18 days of receiving the official decision from the Ministry of Health on the eligibility to perform the liver removal and transplant technique, under the direct transfer of the Central Military Hospital 108, the team of Military Hospital 175 coordinated to perform the first liver transplant on a human.

This is a pair of liver transplants from living donors of the same bloodline. The donor, the patient’s nephew, decided to donate part of his liver to help his uncle with severe liver cancer have a chance to be “reborn”.

After nearly eight hours of effort and high concentration from the entire surgical team, at exactly 4:35 p.m. on December 28, 2024, the above liver transplant patient left the operating room to the joy of the hospital’s Board of Directors and the team.

After the transplant, the clinical course of the donor was very favorable. For the recipient, after three weeks of intensive resuscitation after, the patient’s health was stable, and he was officially discharged from the hospital on January 17 to return to his family, starting a new life.

With the success of the above case, Military Hospital 175 has also officially become the fourth medical facility from Da Nang onwards to successfully perform liver transplantation on humans.

Major General, Meritorious Doctor Tran Quoc Viet, Director of Military Hospital 175, shared that after nearly two years of preparation, the unit has built 96 new technical and operational procedures for liver transplants.
The hospital has sent 62 students to study and receive liver transplant techniques at Military Central Hospital 108 for two years./.

Despite normal semen analysis results and undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) multiple times, all four initial attempts failed.
