Hanoi welcomes over 33 million visitors in 2025

Resolution 262, adopted by the National Assembly on December 11, 2025, approves the investment policy for the National Target Programme on Health Care, Population and Development for the 2026–2035 period. One of the programme’s overarching goals is to ensure that, during 2026–2035, all citizens in Vietnam are provided with primary healthcare, with disease prevention carried out early, remotely and at the grassroots level, thereby reducing the burden of illness.

On the morning of January 23, the 14th Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee convened its first meeting, during which the 14th Politburo, comprising 19 members, was elected.

In the time ahead, five strategic breakthroughs must be implemented in digital data, guided by the principles of decisive action, results as the ultimate measure, and synchronized implementation. This was the requirement set out by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the National Steering Committee on Data, at the Committee’s first meeting, held online on January 12, with all 34 cities and provinces nationwide.

The three strategic breakthroughs identified at the 13th Party Congress remain vital for the 2021–2030 period. As Vietnam enters the 14th Party Congress term, they must be implemented more drastically, swiftly and thoroughly, as decisive levers for breakthrough development.

In Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW on the development of Vietnamese culture, the Politburo affirms that developing culture and people constitutes the foundation, a vital endogenous resource, a powerful driving force, a pillar, and a regulatory system for the country’s rapid and sustainable development.

The draft documents to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress identify three strategic breakthroughs: institutional reform; improvements in education quality and talent attraction; and infrastructure investment. Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member and standing member of the Subcommittee for Documents of the 14th National Party Congress, shared the new viewpoints, major orientations and strategic breakthroughs with Nhan Dan Newspaper.

In 2025, Vietnam recorded eight export items each earning over 10 billion USD, accounting for 70.2% of the country’s total export turnover, with electronics, computers and components leading the pack at 107.748 billion USD, followed by machinery and equipment, phones and components, and textiles and garments.

Barely over a year since its launch, Vietnam’s movement to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses has exceeded expectations, mobilising over 24.7 trillion VND (nearly 937 million USD) and millions of workdays to complete more than 334,000 homes nationwide, achieving its national target months ahead of schedule.

From 2015 to 2025, Vietnam’s hospitals have made significant progress towards modern, internationally aligned quality standards, with most facilities achieving over 90% compliance in key quality-improvement and patient-safety activities.

Vietnam’s team secured 2 gold medals, 3 silver, and 1 bronze with a total score of 188, placing 9th among 113 countries and territories at the 2025 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), held from July 10 to 20 in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
