Malaria cases in Vietnam down 20% in 2024

According to the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control (CDC), 316 dengue cases were recorded across 74 communes and wards in the city from August 7-14, up 81 from the previous week. Eleven new outbreaks were also reported, bringing the total number since the beginning of 2026 to 63, with 24 still active.

On August 11th, the Editorial Board held a meeting to prepare for the launch of the Health Today Media channel, scheduled to take place on August 20th, 2026 in Hanoi. The health condition of the last patient receiving treatment following the deadly boat capsize off the Phu Quoc special one in An Giang province has shown positive signs of improvement after three more days of intensive care, Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City said on July 16.

Upon arrival at Cho Ray Hospital, the patient remained in critical condition. However, doctors reported encouraging signs, with both haemodynamic parameters and blood oxygen levels showing improvement.
