Hanoi begins measles vaccination campaign

Hanoi commenced a measles vaccination campaign at health stations in the districts of Long Bien, Phu Xuyen, Phuc Tho, Thuong Tin, Dong Anh, Hoai Duc and Thach That and Son Tay township on October 14.

The campaign will be rolled out in other localities in the coming days.

As many as 70,000 people will get the measles jabs in this campaign, including children aged 1-5 living in the city and healthcare workers at risks of exposure to the virus who have not received full vaccine dosage.

Up to 95% of children aged 1-5 and health workers are expected to be vaccinated against measles and rubella this year.

According to a report from the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control (CDC), the city recorded an additional six measles cases from October 4 to 11, bringing the total number from the outset of the year to 23. Meanwhile, there was no infected case registered during the same time last year./.
